Don’t forget that you can also get Dad out a week early on Saturday, June 13, which is our second free fishing day, so it won’t cost you anything but a smile and some pocket [...]

Here are my tips for where to take Dad this weekend (hope my wife and boys read this).
I should mention that Saturday is also our second free fishing day, so it won’t cost you anything but a smile and some pocket change for bait.
Dad will grin from ear to ear after catching a toothy northern [...]

There is a full moon on Sunday, June 7 and it looks like there is a low pressure system moving into the state — the barometer is dropping and it is expected to get cooler. These are good conditions for a late spring bite. either day or night, high country or desert impoundment.
For night fishing, use dark [...]

It was just a few weeks ago when I was writing about the roads finally opening to all the mountain lakes and streams, and now Memorial Day weekend is creeping up on us way too quickly. It feels like we are in a time accelerator.
Let’s start with the warmwater lakes. As [...]

All the mountain lakes are now open, accessible and imminently fishable, with lots of anglers experiencing the thrill of catching larger holdover trout. Plus there are plenty of stockers to catch as well.
It doesn’t get much better than this, does it?
Well, add in a full moon while camping and maybe it does. You [...]

There is always something – sorry for getting this to you late this week. My computer at work took a permanent holiday into the cyberspace twilight zone, so I am putting this together with the computer version of bailing wire and duct tape (my aging PC at home).
Here’s some terrific news for [...]
