Sounds like the carp are in the spawn. A can of corn might turn a bad bass day into a great carp day. They are the No. 1 fighting fish in Europe and will put all your reels and fishing poles to the test.

The bass should also be spawning. I don’t troll enough to know if staging or spawning bass can routinely be caught that way, but I suspect not, unless they are actively chasing shad like at first and last light, or you just happen to get a reaction bite. During this time of year, bass will typically orient more to the bottom or to cover. The only thing I can offer is to try drop shots, Texas-rigged plastics or Carolina-rigged plastics along the bottom, especially along those shad lines under the bridges.
