TUCSON URBAN — Mark Robbins said that once again at Silverbell Lake, his 8-year-old daught Ellie Zion Marie caught a 14-inch trout, my son Ryan caught a 15-inch trout and I pulled in a 16-inch trout. “Great fishing that day for a total of six trout.”

The new, 2008 Urban Fishing Program brochures are now available at all department offices and fishing license dealers in Arizona. The brochures include many new pages to help people get started fishing urban lakes.

All license fees, fish limits and other regulations remain the same as last year. Don’t forget to obtain a 2008 Urban Fishing License.

Incentive trout stocking is scheduled for the week of Jan. 7-12 and will include plenty of extra 1-3 pound trout with each lake delivery.  Once every year, super-sized rainbow trout are ordered from our fish vendors.  Mixed in with the usual 10-13 inchers will be some trout in the 13-20 inch range.

FRYE MESA RESERVIOR – No recent reports. 

KEARNY LAKES — This lake remains fishless due to golden algae.
 
ARIVACA — Bass fishing has been slow with the cooler temperatures.  However anglers are reporting some bass being caught with crank baits.  Jan. 1 marks a change in the motor restrictions at this lake.  Motors 10 horsepower or less will now be legal for use at Arivaca.  Remember that all bass must be immediately released back to the water.

PENA BLANCA – Yosh Packard fly fished from his float tube and caught bluegill, crappie and rainbow trout, adding that the lake level was really high with water flowing into and out of the lake.

The mercury advisory for all warm water fish is in effect. Bass less than 13 inches long must be immediately released.  The daily bag limit for bass is four.  Also, be advised that Pena Blanca is not an urban lake; therefore an urban fishing license is invalid to fish at this lake.  Jan. 1 marks a change in the motor restrictions at this lake.  Motors 10 horsepower or less will now be legal for use at Pena Blanca.   

PATAGONIA — No recent reports.  The lake was stocked with trout last week.

 PARKER CANYON — The lake is full.  Fishing remains slow due to algae bloom but a few anglers are catching fish.  The is scheduled to be stocked this week.    

PICACHO RESERVOIR — No Report.

ROSE CANYON LAKE — The access road is closed for the season.  Anglers can still access the lake by walking in.
