TEN MONTHS OF FISH STOCKINGS BEGIN AT URBAN PROGRAM LAKES
With the successful start-up of the Urban lakes catfish stocking season on September 18, anglers can now look forward to ten months of fish stockings.  Fish stockings occur every other week from mid September through the end of June for a total of 23 deliveries to each of the 20 designated Urban Fishing Program waters in the Phoenix and Tucson areas.  The annual fish stocking schedule includes 4 stockings of channel catfish in the fall, followed by 9 stockings of rainbow trout through the winter.  As temperatures rise again in the spring, channel catfish stockings start up again for a total of 8 more deliveries.  Sunfish are stocked twice each year, once in the fall and in the spring.  Largemouth bass stockings take place once each year in late fall or winter.

“Despite rising fuel and fish price costs, we expect to maintain or slightly increase our fish stocking amounts for the upcoming season” announced Eric Swanson, Urban Fishing Program Manager.  “We have excellent fish contractors in place that have proven records of delivering great fish on time, every time.  So, we’re looking for another year of outstanding service to our urban anglers.”
