Reservation lake is open- The concession is not. get your permit before you go, you may be able to buy it from the cam host there, but then again maybe not. the store and boat rentals are closed. The closest place to buy permits is either McNary or Springerville.We do not sell them at Big Lake. AZ Highway 273 is closed from Sunrise ski resort(also closed) to Big lake., you must find another route to the lake. Highway 273 will be closed next year as well. (260 to Eagar to 261 will get you to Big lake if your coming from the valley.) Sunrise lake concession is closed as well, Hawley lake is open on weekends. I work for Rick at the Big Lake store.

As usual, it is one of the top producers this time of year. At 250 surface acres, it’s one of the largest lakes in the mountains (rivals Big Lake), so the water there stays cooler longer. It’s one of my favorite places to fish. Don’t forget to obtain a pass from the White Mountain Apache Tribe. They do have a store there with boat rentals.
