Tortoise Adoption Day is hosted by the Phoenix Herpetological Society, and provides a wealth of information on caring for captive desert tortoises for those whose application has been approved, and are ready to adopt a desert tortoise in the greater Phoenix area.

Explore the desert trails at this unique park with naturalist Doris Evans as she discusses the life stories of tarantulas, desert tortoises and other inhabitants of desert holes. A close up look at live animals will follow the walk. Reservations required.

The palm-lined ponds at Agua Caliente Park are freshwater communities containing diverse life forms, from native ducks to exotic fish and turtles. Come and explore how this desert oasis supports life that otherwise wouldn’t survive in the Sonoran Desert.
