Arizona’s animals can be elusive, but if you know what to look for, you can see signs of them on almost any trail. In this class, kids will learn identify scat (droppings) and tracks of different animals. We’ll also make tracks of our own while walking just like the animals do!

Volunteers from the Desert Rivers Audubon Society will lead guided birdwalks through Veterans Oasis Park. Participants will observe the many species of birds that populate central Arizona’s desert and wetland habitats. This is a great way for the entire family to enjoy nature together! Birdwalks depart from the EEC about every 30 minutes until about 11 a.m. Walks typically last at least one hour. Pre-registration is NOT required.

What: Have you ever wondered why a bobcat has spots or why female hummingbirds are so drab? Animals come in all sorts of colors to help them survive. Learn how animals use colors and patterns to blend in. Then, create your own desert “hide-and-seek” game. Activity is best suited for children ages 5-12 accompanied by adults.

Come out and experience the sights and sounds of the Sonoran at night! By the light of the moon, we’ll hike along Wagner Trail and enjoy the shadows cast by the McDowell Mountains. We may even see the famous Fountain Hills fountain spouting in the distance! Meet at Wagner Trailhead. No pets please.
